Welcome to Nails Done: Innovation Meets Beauty

Greetings from Mila, founder of Nails Done salon and the driving force behind our state-of-the-art dust collectors. Our story is one of passion, innovation, and resilience. As a lifelong manicure enthusiast, I transformed my hobby into a profession, even before completing university. My journey in nail artistry led me to create something unique for the industry.

In 2014, my life took a turn when my husband and I moved from Ukraine to the USA. California became our new home, where I dreamt of opening my own nail salon. This dream became a reality in 2020. I signed the rent agreement right 2 weeks before the world changed with the lockdown. It was a period of uncertainty - supply stores were shut, city offices were closed, and finding contractors was next to impossible. That's when my husband, a shipbuilding engineer, put his dreams aside to help me build mine. With limited experience but immense dedication, he single-handedly transformed our space, adding custom-made pedicure sinks and unique furnishings.

We are both cyclists and our commitment to a healthy lifestyle has always been at the forefront of our personal and professional lives. Recognizing the health risks associated with manicure dust, my husband ingeniously designed tables with integrated dust collectors, utilizing robust motors adapted from commercial HVAC systems. This innovative approach was a game-changer, providing unprecedented dust extraction. In more detail, the same amount of air passes through a table designed for 4 people as through the air conditioning system in a three-bedroom house.

However, it quickly became apparent that even the most advanced dust collectors positioned beneath the hands were unable to trap all the particles escaping into the air, particularly those propelled upwards from the nail bit. This poses a significant issue, as both the nail artist and the client's faces are directly in the line of this rising dust. Ultimately, we came to understand that the cleanliness of the table post-service is moot if nail artists are still breathing in dust that also finds its way into their hair. In our pursuit of excellence, we collaborated with designers, engineers, parts suppliers. Of course, testing was a crucial part of the process. We paid great attention to the feedback from nail specialists. The product was tested both in our salon and by our friends. For instance, significant improvements were made to the buttons. Our first prototype featured three motor speed modes and three light brightness levels, controlled by touch-sensitive buttons. However, feedback from nail specialists revealed that the touch buttons were not always responsive through gloves, leading us to replace them with large, high-quality physical buttons. Additionally, we found the various light and motor power modes to be unnecessary. If the noise level is within a comfortable range, why reduce the power? And for nail specialists, there can never be too much light. Thus, having these three modes only complicated the work, forcing artists to constantly switch and search for the right setting. It might not sound like a big issue on day one, but believe me, you feel it after a week.

To our delight, the new dust collectors became an indispensable part of our salon, serving both pedicures and manicures. They've been embraced for various reasons - some appreciate the extra lighting, others value their health impact, and many are thankful for cleaner hair at day's end. Rigorously tested in our salon and among peers, these collectors have proven to be extraordinarily reliable.

We warmly welcome any questions you might have about our products or services. Engaging with our clients and community is at the core of what we do. Your feedback and inquiries not only help us grow but also allow us to serve you better.

Our story is ever-evolving, and we're excited to see where this journey takes us.

With warm wishes and a promise of continued innovation,

Mila, Nails Done.
